Yes! Only nurses with an active Canadian nursing license (RN, LPN, RPN or NP) can complete the full program. If you are a nursing student, you will be allowed to register and work through the Theory portion but you cannot start the Clinical Training until your license is active.
To complete Clinical Training with Kirsten’s Foot Care, your license must also be full with no conditions or restrictions.

At this time, there is no formal certification process is recognized by our provincial/territorial nursing regulatory body for foot care nursing. While we hope to hear some positive developments regarding certification and regulation of nursing foot care in the coming months, it is not yet available.

Using the term “Certified Foot Care Nurse” or “CFCN” is not currently approved, and can unintentionally mislead the public, misrepresent qualifications, or violate regulatory guidelines. Our Provincial/Territorial nursing regulatory body’s require that we use only titles and designations that are officially recognized.

Yes! Whether you’ve been in the game for a while and need a refresher OR you were trained by another program and feel that your knowledge is lacking, you can take a clinical refresher, reach out for mentoring, or even refresh your theory!

Experienced foot care nurses who are looking to update their foot care theory can enrol in the Online Theory course for the Refresher rate of $500 (send an email to admin@footcanada.ca with proof of your previous training and they will send you a coupon code).

You can become a Foot Care Nurse (FCN) in as little as a few months, depending on yours and the Educators schedule and availability. The full program is approximately 150 hours total.

The course consists of two sections, 120 hours of self-paced online learning, which includes the CSA course certificate followed by a four day (32 hour minimum).

Due to the nature of private, one-on-one clinicals, the Educator’s schedule can book up a few months in advance, depending on the season. If you are looking to complete the program within a certain time frame, or wish to complete clinical at a specific time or month, please reach out to the Educator.

While Kirsten’s Foot Care is confident that students will receive the necessary knowlege, skills, training, guidance, and support to be successful in the program, students are not guaranteed to pass.

In addition to arriving to clinical on-time and prepared, it is expected that nurses participating in this program will:

– Conduct themselves at all times in a respectful and professional manner;
– Will respect the privacy of the instructor, students, staff and patients by not taking or posting photos, videos, locations or comments without written consent, during or after the training;
– Refrain from using their cellphones at any times during the training, except for during an emergency or lunch. Cellphones must be kept on silent or vibrate;
– Accept constructive feedback from their Instructor, and in circumstances of disagreement will apporoach the Instructor privately, and in a respectful manner, for clarification;
– Not put patients safety at risk.

Nurses who fail to adhere to the above, resulting in ethical or safety concerns, may be removed from the course at the Educator’s discretion and marked as Incomplete. Re-entry to the course may or may not be possible based on the Educator’s recommendations. Remedial assignment(s) and additional fees may be applicable.

Clinical graduates with Kirsten’s Foot Care receive a certificate of completion in Advanced Nursing Foot Care in Association with Foot Canada Training.

Nursing Foot Care in Canada is NOT regulated, and there is currently no legitimate certification process in Canada. Provincial/Territorial nursing regulatory bodies do not recognize “FCN” or “CFCN” as a designation.
