We continue to cancel appointments one week ahead until the situation changes or we hear from the Ontario Ministry of Health that we can resume our regular services. We were also informed that the Olde Forge has cancelled the foot clinic for April 30th.
Although foot care nurses are now able to provide emergency care only, many of us continue to suspend services regardless. There is a risk to continuing with providing home visits at this time, as most of our clients are elderly and at high risk. We would feel terrible if we possibly transmitted COVID-19 to any of our clients.
In addition, many foot care nurses do not have enough of the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) to continue operating right now. We are doing our best to acquire more PPE though it is proving difficult when all available is going to front-line workers in hospitals (where it is needed the most).
We understand what an inconvenience this is for our clients and we apologize. We work with clients who have multiple risk factors and we would hate for anything to happen to them. It’s not an easy decision for us however it is one we’ve made to keep our clients safe. It’s also difficult for us as a business, as we don’t know what kind of work we will come back to when this is all over.
If any of our existing clients are experiencing any foot related problems or require emergency care, please send an email or leave a voicemail and we will be in contact within 24 hours.
We hope that everyone is doing well and we appreciate everyone’s patience.
